Answer

Condensation forms when warm, moisture-laden air meets colder surfaces. In a bathroom, common contributors are weak extraction, a fan that does not run long enough, blocked or inefficient ducting, cold external walls and simply generating more moisture than the room can clear quickly.

A new bathroom finish alone will not solve the problem if ventilation remains poor. Check that the extractor actually moves air outside and that the room has an appropriate path for replacement air to enter when the fan runs.

During a Glasgow bathroom renovation, ventilation should be considered as part of the design alongside heating and waterproofing. Doherty's bathroom installation page specifically includes ventilation in the pre-start checks and can assess it while the room is being planned.
