A whistling or high-pitched noise can be caused by restricted water flow, scale, air, a pump or valve issue, or another internal fault. It is sometimes described as kettling when water is overheating locally because heat is not being carried away efficiently.
Do not assume that adding chemicals or flushing the system will automatically solve it. The engineer should first establish where the sound originates and whether the boiler is operating at the correct pressure and flow. If the noise is accompanied by repeated shutdowns, error codes or unusually hot pipework, arrange a check rather than continuing to run it indefinitely.
Doherty's Glasgow boiler repair service can inspect the appliance and wider central-heating circulation so the cause is identified before parts or cleaning work are recommended.
