Answer

Boiler pressure normally rises somewhat as the heating warms up, but a large or persistent increase can point to a system fault. Common possibilities include an expansion-vessel problem, the filling loop not being fully closed or another issue that allows system pressure to rise beyond its normal operating range.

Do not repeatedly release water or adjust internal boiler components unless the manufacturer's user instructions specifically tell you to perform a particular safe check. If the gauge moves into the high-pressure area, the boiler discharges water or the pressure climbs every time the heating runs, it should be diagnosed.

Tell the engineer the cold pressure, the highest pressure seen when hot and whether water has appeared from any discharge pipe. Doherty's Glasgow boiler repair service can check the pressure-control components and the wider system rather than treating the gauge reading in isolation.
