The flue position is controlled by the boiler manufacturer's instructions and applicable installation standards. It needs safe clearances from openings, boundaries, corners and other features, and it must discharge combustion products appropriately.
In Glasgow flats and tenements, the available external elevations can make flue planning more restrictive than in a detached house. A proposed boiler location can look ideal internally but become impractical if there is no acceptable route to outside. Longer or more complex flue arrangements can also add cost compared with a standard horizontal flue.
This is why Doherty separates standard package work from non-standard flue arrangements. The Glasgow boiler survey should confirm the flue route before the appliance position and final quotation are agreed.
