There is no single perfect flow temperature for every Glasgow home. Lowering the radiator flow temperature can improve the efficiency of a condensing boiler because it encourages a lower return temperature, but the setting still has to be high enough to heat the property properly in cold weather.
Energy Saving Trust recommends making changes gradually and getting the heating controls right first. Large older rooms, smaller radiators or poor heat retention may need a higher setting than a well-insulated home with generously sized radiators.
If you have a regular or system boiler that also heats a hot-water cylinder through the same boiler temperature control, do not reduce it blindly because stored hot water has minimum temperature requirements. If you are unsure, Doherty can review boiler settings and heating controls as part of its Glasgow heating service.
